The school’s multi-purpose court facilitates netball, basketball and volleyball activities.

The cosmotology students of grades 8 to 11, practice hair and nail skills during their morning session.

The reading room hosts a small class of Literature students, to whom Janice Miller explains various topics.

She directs our attention to artwork done by tenth grader Denver Taylor.

Guidance teacher Sydney O’Connor, took time out to explain to us how important the welfare of the students and the school are to him. He also highlighted the groups that the school works alongside and his work history as a probation officer.

Intormation Technology instructors Keson Ferguson and George Spence, foster an interactive learning environment for these 10th graders, using projectors to instruct students who follow suit on their individual desktop computers.

The St Joseph’s netball team, headed by coach Malford Turner and captain Latoya Sterling, are prepating to enter the Jamaica Independent School Association Netball Competition later this year.

Under the direction of coach Malford Turner and captain Oshane Moore, the school’s football team is set to take the Jamaica Independent School Association Football Competition by storm later this year.

Posing with her team, the school’s chaplin Mrs Gladys McKenzie, acts also as the faculty advisor of the school’s ISCF club.

Although not the favourite teacher among the students of St Joseph’s High, bursar and administrator Andrea Thompson has been a member of the school staff for little over 23 years and has become much-appreciated by the school body.

Definitely training hard throughout the year, the collection of sport trophies for track and field, netball and football, are proudly laid out in the school’s administrative office.

Showing us a bit of their artistic talent, the school’s expressive drama club poses for the TEENage Observer Team.

Favourite teacher

Although teaching at St Joseph’s for only a year, favourite teacher Ms Tainia Taylor is more than happy to bring the full science experience to her eager students. Although her degree from the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus is in Zoology and Geology, Ms Taylor teaches integrated science to Grades nine to 11, and human and social biology to grades 10 and 11.
