Lorna Golding to address UN forum
LORNA Golding, wife of Prime Minister Bruce Golding, will champion the advancement of early childhood education in Jamaica when she addresses the Women’s International Forum at the United Nations in New York Friday.
Golding, who is founder and chairman of the Jamaica Early Childhood Development Foundation and patron of the Jamaica Aids Foundation, will be one of four speakers at the forum under the theme ‘The First Ladies Speak’.
She will showcase Jamaica’s advancement in early childhood education and the environment. The meeting is expected to be attended by permanent representatives of the member states of the UN and their spouses, high-ranking officials of the UN, as well as the consular corps and prominent figures in New York.
The other three speakers will be spouse of the UN secretary-general Madame Ban Soon-taek (Patron of the Women’s International Forum); the First Lady of Egypt Madame Suzanne Mubarak and the First Lady of Malaysia Datin Sri Rosmah Mansor.
