Yendi you did us proud
Dear Editor
Miss Yendi Phillips certainly did Jamaica and our people proud in the Miss Universe contest. She placed Jamaica in a positive light and has reversed, even if temporarily, some negatives about our country.
The truth as to who we are as a people generally gets lost to negative exposure, like the fact that we are one of the most hospitable people, home to the fastest human beings and also for having the most stunningly beautiful women gracing this planet.
Jamaica’s name is tarnished internationally and is associated with all kinds of vices: corruption, lying politicians, “the weed”, human trafficking, and a high crime and murder rate.
Thank you for the brief reprieve, Yendi.
