Ralph Lauren’s best yet

People Post

AS the daughter of fashion designer Ralph, there was no question that Dylan Lauren’s wedding dress was going to be something special. But when the 37-year-old’s big day came around last month, it was clear that her father had surpassed all expectations. The confectionery entrepreneur, who married hedge fund manager Paul Arrouet at her family’s Bedford Estate, wore a handmade duchesse satin, silk tulle, georgette-embroidered dress with a tiered train.

The custom-made gown, which she wears for a photoshoot celebrating her marriage in the August issue of Vogue, was kept under security guard at Ralph Lauren’s New York headquarters prior to the wedding.

Mr Lauren, 71, who walked his daughter up the aisle with his wife, Ricky, is said to have consulted his former protégée and grande dame of bridal wear, Vera Wang, on the design of the dress. He admitted in an interview with Oprah Winfrey in May that creating the gown was an emotional experience. He said: “I had to do something that was better than ever before. When you do something for your family or your daughter, I mean it’s the only daughter I have — beautiful girl. I want to just give her something that she’d really treasure and give her something that would be really amazing. I want her to feel fantastic.” It seems he has done well, though, as Lauren was full of praise for her father’s work. She described the gown as “the most amazing thing because it’s really stunning. I told my fiancé, ‘I may sleep in it. I might wear it the next day,’” she added. “It’s really beautiful. I know that every bit of his energy and heart went into making sure that I liked it.”

Has Been?

PARIS Hilton stormed out of a TV interview with Dan Harris of ABC News, after being asked if she was past her prime. The reality TV star took offence at the question and pulled the plug on the interview at her Los Angeles mansion.

She first became agitated when the journalist asked: “Do you worry at times that people who have followed in your footsteps, like Kim Kardashian, are overshadowing you?” Through gritted teeth, she replied: “No, not at all.” She became even more irritated when he mentioned that her latest reality TV show The World According to Paris has struggled in the ratings.

The journalist continued: “Do you worry about your moment having passed?” Hilton, 30, glanced across at her publicist off camera before storming out. After a heated discussion between Harris, Hilton and her publicist, she eventually returned to deliver an apparently well-rehearsed answer, “I’ve been doing this for 15 years now, so it’s been a long time, so just like any other business person or someone in the industry, it is always important to reinvent yourself and come up with new projects,” she said.

A source said: “Now Drake has told her he loves her — and that he wants her to move in with him! She’s telling pals that she’s decided to just go for it and give their romance a serious try. These days she’s all about Drake. Everyone is breathing a huge sigh of relief.”
