AMIDST the controversy surrounding the selection of songs for the Jamaica’s 50th Independence celebrations, one up-and-coming artiste is on a mission. He is convinced his composition will strike a chord in the hearts of the Jamaican people.

According to Geddys ‘Stratdon’ Ferguson, his song, I Still Love You expresses how he truly feels about Jamaica.

“It’s actually a personification of the country. I related to Jamaica as I would to a woman,” Stratdon, who hails from Kingston, told the Jamaica Observer.

Introduced to Jamaica in 2009 through the Digicel Rising Stars, the former Wolmer’s Boys High student garnered the courage to delve fully into music.

He released his first single, I Still Love You, on his Strategic Entertainment Label in May and is set to drop Can’t Be The Same this summer.

Now 26, Stratdon said he started his musical sojourn at 17. He sees himself more of the Beres Hammond and Freddy McGregor ilk.

Asked how he sees himself in the future, he replied: “The journey is the destination. I’m just taking it as it comes and trying to fulfil my goal which is making quality music. So, wherever it takes me, I’ll be doing just that… making good music,” he said.
