SIXTEEN-YEAR-OLD Alexia Robertson was over the moon when she realised that she obtained an amazing nine subjects in the recent Caribbean Secondary Examination Council (CSEC) exams, with seven Grade Ones in biology, chemistry, English language, English literature, accounts, information technology, and mathematics and two Grade Twos in physics and Spanish

“I literally could not stop smiling,” the Bridgeport High student told TEENage. “My results made me proud of myself. They made me know that all my sleepless nights were not for nothing. I totally believed that I could have achieved the results that I got, however I was a little disappointed that I was not able to obtain a one in physics.”

The future obstetrician shared that before her examinations, she was promised her dream phone. However, she emphasised that she did not just work for the phone, but because she had certain goals that she needed to achieve in order to better herself. Along with that as her motivation, she was driven to prove to her younger siblings that attaining seven Grade ones and two Grade twos was not an impossible task.

“I (did) my best to make them believe that they are capable of achieving what I have achieved,” Robertson reiterated.

Robertson, who lives in Reids Pen Braeton, Greater Portmore, was recently accepted to attend sixth form at her Alma Mater. However, she craves financial support as she is uncertain how she will finance her education due to her family’s struggles. She plans, though, to advance to university to study medicine, providing that she receives help for sixth form.

“The work may seem hard,” she as she advised the upcoming CSEC candidates. “However, through putting out your best, always believing in yourself and never forgetting what you want to achieve, your hard work will pay off and the satisfaction you get from seeing that your hard work has paid off is an unbelievable feeling.”
