THIS weekend singer Claudius England and his Red Tones Band take their inspirational message to Sweden where they are scheduled to perform on the Operations Mission Sweden/Easter Conference.

The event takes place March 24-April 7 in the city of Jönköping, headquarters for Operations Mission, a Christian missionary organisation.

Counselors and performers will participate in empowerment programmes with refugee youth from around the world who are seeking permanent refuge in the Scandinavian country.

England is looking forward to sharing Jamaica’s culture but also “performing, teaching and having ministry outreach.”

He says his link with the Swedish event came after his performance at the 2010 Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival in Montego Bay. There, he met senior members of Operations Mission.

They invited him to perform that year aboard their Logos ship which was docked in the tourist city.

England describes his association with the organisation as a “big thing for me. It’s opened doors I really wanted.”

Born in Mandeville, England grew up in Lilliput, St James and says he has always been involved in the church.

In 2008, he recorded his first song, Mama. Other spiritual singles followed including Abstain and Done For Me.

He is currently working on an album with saxophonist Dean Fraser and singer/songwriter Duane Stephenson which he hopes to be complete by the summer.
