Hamilton Gardens tame fancied Ken’s Wildflower
HAMILTON Gardens beat the much-fancied Ken’s Wildflower by four wickets in the championship match to top the recently concluded 2013 Milo/Portmore Cricket Association Under-17 League.
In the exciting final at the Bridgeport Sports Ground, Ken’s Wildflower, who won the tournament when it was competed as an Under-15 format last year, took first strike, but were dismissed for only 154.
George Walker top scored with 29, while Rahim Grant supported with 27 and Akeem McLean struck 22.
Delroy Grant was Hamilton Gardens’ best bowler with 4-39, while Chavon Bonsfeather and Jordan Newman chipped in with 2-18 and 2-24, respectively.
Scores: Ken’s Wildflower 154 (34.1 overs); Hamilton Gardens 158-6 (33 overs)
In reply, Hamilton Gardens compiled 158-6 in 33 overs as Winston Warham (27), Gifton Mullings (27) and Nickoy Roberts, who hit an undefeated 24, all put together useful knocks to secure the Portmore Under-17 Challenge Cup.
Aaron Blackwood took 2-35 and Walker grabbed 2-36 for the losing team.
