ILLUMINAT to equip classrooms with smartboards
ILLUMINAT has inked a deal to equip 180 classrooms with new Smart Technologies Interactive White Boards.
The deal signed with e-Learning Jamaica Company Limited — an agency of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Energy, and Mining — aims to bolster their innovative educational programmes.
Previously, the information technology and communications solutions company were approved for three projects under the programme with a total value of US$5.7 million between 2006 and 2009. The value of the latest project was not disclosed by the company.
“ILLUMINAT considers ourselves partners of e-Learning Jamaica, and we are committed to the growth and improvement of the education sector through the use of information technology,” said ILLUMINAT director Courtney Hamilton. “Research has proven in recent years that students are much more receptive to interactive training solutions, so we are happy to provide the high school project with a well-needed boost for Jamaica’s children.”
In addition to providing and installing the white boards, lLLUMINAT will also conduct training for approximately 900 teachers to ensure proper comprehension and use of the technology within the classrooms.
The new smartboards offers ease of communication with finger and pen control, allowing educators to write notes with digital ink, adjust presentations by making note of student questions within existing presentations, save and share lessons in seconds, and has received positive reviews from schools and businesses worldwide.
The project will be implemented between January and March of next year.
