MANCHESTER High School will have it all to do when they face off with leaders Vere Technical High School in Zone Two of the Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA)/Digicel Twenty20 (T20) competition at St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) today.

All opening games are scheduled to begin at 10 am, while the second match at each venue is slated to start at 2:00 pm.

Manchester High, having brushed aside Excelsior High by 90 runs in their first game, failed to positively follow up last weekend when they slumped to a six-wicket defeat at the hands of Wolmer’s Boys.

Vere Technical continued their good form and have already advanced to the semi-finals after dispatching Wolmer’s by 56 runs, followed by a crushing 158-run win over Excelsior.

The other Zone Two game will see Wolmer’s going up against out-of-contention Excelsior at St Jago High in Spanish Town. The youthful Excelsior outfit will be seeking to salvage some pride from the game, while victory for Wolmer’s would see them join Vere in the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, Tristan Coleman and his Cross Keys High team, coming off a vital eight-wicket win over St Jago High, will be in the lion’s den, going up against the hosts St Elizabeth Technical in Zone One action.

STETHS remain unbeaten and having already trounced St Jago and Eltham respectively, will see the team from South Manchester facing no easy task. Cross Keys, if victorious, will join the kingpins in the semi-final.

Today’s Zone One game will see urban area Grace Shield champions Eltham High going up against St Jago in the St Catherine rumble. Eltham High, after hanging tough for a two-run win in the first game against Cross Keys, was beaten by an emphatic 110 runs by STETHS last Saturday and will be seeking to make amends if they are to advance to the semi-final, while their opponents will be seeking to salvage some pride at home.

The Tamar Lambert-coached St Jago High have been playing some lacklustre cricket since the start of the tournament which saw them going down by 62 runs to STETHS, before Cross Keys added an eight-wicket thumping to their misery.
