SCOTIABANK ‘A’ won the Cable Pro/Western Sports Business House One-day Five-A-Side football challenge rally last

Saturday night at the NWC Playfield, Mona, when they defeated their ‘B team 4-3 in a penalty shoot-out after playing to a 0-0 draw.

As a result, the winners walked away with $30,000, while the runners-up collected $15,000.

Scotiabank ‘A’ won all of their matches from the quarter-final stage by way of penalty shootouts. They drew 1-1 with Courts and 0-0 with Seprod in the semifinals, as goalkeeper Jabari Wallace ensured that they were victorious with some excellent saves.

The Scotiabank ‘B’ had things easier as they were undefeated in the competition until the final match. They clipped Jamaica Broilers 1-0 in the quarter-final and defeated HEART Trust 4-0 in the semis.

Defending champion Kingston Bookshop did not make it out of the first round as they lost to Courts and Scotiabank ‘B’ in the prelimnary round. Andre McFarlane of Scotiabank ‘B’ and Delano Allen of JIO were the leading goal scorers with four goals each and Jabari Wallace of Scotiabank ‘A’ won the MVP award.

The Business House Five-A-side Football League competition will kick off on Saturday, May 31, 2014 with a dress parade and a double-header at the NWC Playfield , Mona, starting at 2:00 pm. A total of 56 teams will be participating.
