WATERHOUSE Blazers defeated Spanish Town Meadows 70-52 to clinch their best-of-three play-off semi-finals 2-0 in the 2014 Southern Basketball Conference (SCB) at Waterhouse Courts last Wednesday.

The Drewsland aggregation had earlier won the first game 63-56 over Meadows. They will now await the winner of the other semi-final play-off between Swift Sons and Arnett Gardens Rockers. The Sons lead the series 1-0 after edging out Arnett Gardens 50-48 in the first game, also on Wednesday.

In the second game, between Waterhouse and Meadows, on Wednesday night, the winners made sure that it didn’t go into a third encounter as they

led 20-12 at the end of the first period.

Waterhouse maintained dominance over their opponents in the second quarter as they increased their lead by scoring 19-7 to go into the half-time break with a comfortable 39-19 points lead.

Meadows kept on even terms with Waterhouse in the third quarter, with both scoring 15 points each, but with the winners still maintaining a 20-point lead (54-34) at the completion of the third break.

With Waterhouse having a commanding lead coming into the fourth and final quarter, Meadows found themselves with too much work on their shoulders. But despite getting the better of the winners (18-16) points, the task was too much and they eventually lost heavily to their opponents.

Game Two between both teams is scheduled for tomorrow at the Arnett Gardens Basketball Courts, starting at 6:30 pm.
