Bassett to direct Lifetime biopic of Houston
The Lifetime TV channel says it will air a movie about Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown’s relationship. And the network has made sure to hire a veteran actress, who starred opposite the singer in Waiting To Exhale in 1995, to direct the biopic. Angela Bassett, 55, will make her directorial debut for the TV movie that will centre on the late pop star, who died in 2012.
Lifetime announced last Thursday that the movie will follow Houston and Brown through their first meeting and tumultuous marriage.
It also promises to chronicle the I Will Always Love You singer’s rise to fame.
Brown and Houston were divorced at the time of her 2012 drowning death in a hotel bathtub at age 48.

Paris wants to spend summer with mom
Paris Jackson reportedly wants to spend her summer vacation living with mom Debbie Rowe. The 16-year-old daughter of late King Of Pop Michael Jackson has been attending “therapeutic boarding school” Diamond Ranch Academy in Hurricane, Utah since her suicide attempt on June 5 last year, but sources say she now feels strong enough to leave and wants to spend time with her mother.
Radar Online exclusively reports that while the teenager has got the all-clear from her doctors to leave for several weeks, she doesn’t want to return to the residential treatment centre at all come the fall — though her family isn’t so sure it’s the best idea at this stage in her delicate recovery.
A family insider tells the website: ‘Paris has made tremendous improvements in the last several months, and her doctors have signed off on her leaving Utah for several weeks to live with biological mom Debbie Rowe at her ranch in Palmdale. According to Radar, both Katherine and Debbie are in agreement that Utah has been a great haven for the troubled youngster and they think it’s best that she stays away from Southern California; however, they’re yet to reach a decision as to whether or not she’ll return after the summer break.

‘I gave birth on the bathroom floor!’
She has access to the world’s best medical facilities. But Thandie Newton has revealed she gave birth to her third child, son Booker, “on the the bathroom floor” in March.
During an appearance on the Today show on Thursday, the 41-year-old said she also had her two daughters, 13-year-old Ripley and Nico age nine, at home because it just feels “normal” to her.
One of the reasons is that Thandie’s never been a fan of hospitals.
“I had just associated hospital with being ill, and I felt beautiful and healthy and wonderful when I was pregnant, and being at home is the place I felt most relaxed and comfortable,” the Crash star said.
“So for me, it feels normal, but there was a time when everybody had their babies at home and it wasn’t such a big deal.”
The English beauty used the same midwife for all three births, including most recently with her 11-week-old bundle of joy.
