C  JA Tour’s annual Lime Cays excursion took place last week Sunday, and it was everything it promised to be. It was fun galore with good vibes, camaraderie and food. The journey began around 9 am, and within an hour of picking everyone up and devouring the breakfast provided we were off. The first stop was Fort Rocky in Port Royal, where the team took pictures of the ruins while the tour guide for the day Sasha, gave us a brief history of not just Rocky Point but Port Royal on a whole. Port Royal is indeed filled with a wondrous legacy of piracy and superstition.

After numerous “selfies” and mingling with the others touring the area, the team was off to catch a boat to Lime Cays. The captain of the boat gave quite the adventure on the voyage. Screams of delight echoed throughout the Kingston Harbour as the boat cruised along the Caribbean Sea towards the cays.

Lime Cays is definitely one of Jamaica’s gems. The water is crystal clear, cool, and inviting. The activities for the day included snorkelling and a favourite of many Jamaicans — dominoes. When the boat returned to take us back, no one was ready to leave. The instantaneous friendship that developed among everyone on the trip spoke volumes to the nature of C JA Tours as they provide a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere for everyone a part of their trips. But what is the story behind C JA Tours? teenAGE spoke with the company’s co-owner, Oshaine Mcknight.

teenAGE (TA): Why did you feel it was necessary to start a touring company in Jamaica?

Oshaine Mcknight (OM): We realised how little of Jamaica we and the students who came to The University of the West Indies (where we began) from abroad had seen. We noticed that the wider public didn’t get to experience much of what Jamaica offers to foreigners and so we thought we would fill those needs.

TA: How is C JA tours different from all the other touring companies?

OM: Our slogan “Much more than a tour…it’s an experience” envelops our business. We aim to provide holistic tours where you can experience Jamaica through its food, music and people.

TA: What are some of the upcoming destinations on your itinerary for the summer holidays?

OM: We will be heading to Suncoast Adventure Park in St Tomas in June. We will also be going to Blue Hole in St Ann in July and we have a trip to Negril in August. The dates for the trips in July and August are not finalised but they will most likely be on the last Sunday in each month.
