MONTEGO BAY, St James — The race for a promotion place in the Western Confederation Super League from St James will heat up this afternoon with the first leg of the semi-finals of the Sandals/ATL/Honda Senior League.

Violet Kickers, who topped the points table after the regular season, are the only former champions in the semi-finals and they will take on Montego Bay United Under-21 at Wespow Park, while Reggae Youths and two-time beaten finalists Little Miami will meet at the UDC field, both games set to start at 3:00 pm.

The return-leg matches will be played on Friday in a double-header at Jarrett Park with the winners on aggregate advancing to the finals set for June 4 and 8.

The winner of the competition will earn one of the four promotion places in the Western Confederation Super League next season.

Meanwhile, Seaview FC and Revelation FC finished at the bottom of the tables and will be relegated along with Seba FC to the Division One competition next season.

Seaview compiled 13 points and Revelation FC 10 to be the automatic teams to go down, while Seba FC will make way for Norwood Strikers, who were relegated from the Western Confederation Super League.

In their only meeting this season, Violet Kickers and MBU Under-21 played out a 2-2 draw in the third-round meeting at Wespow. Violet Kickers had taken a 2-0 lead before MBU Under 21 came back to earn a draw.

Little Miami will go into today’s game with a slight edge over Reggae Youths after beating them 2-1 in a rescheduled third-round game played last week.

Violet Kickers ended the regular season with a big 5-1 win over Seaview to end with 31 points and top of the table, ahead of Little Miami (28 points), who played four games in a short period.

Reggae Youths finished on 27 points, while Montego Bay United, who were invited to the competition for developmental purposes, edged Lilliput Rovers on goal difference after both teams finished on 25 points.
