Ron Kenoly for Come Celebrate Jesus
MONTEGO BAY, St James — INTERNATIONALLY renowned minister and gospel artiste Ron Kenoly will headline the third staging of Come Celebrate Jesus, to be held at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in Rose Hall on Saturday, October 4.
The Lift Him Up singer is expected to perform songs from his vast catalogue including Mourning Into Dancing, Ancient of Days, Sing Out and Winna, Mon, at the gospel music concert, which is being staged by BA&D Gospel Production.
Another feature act will be local gospel star Kevin Downswell, reputed for songs such as You Make Me Stronger, Naw Bow, Forgiven and God is Moving.
Kenoly and Downswell will be ably supported by Shirley Simpson, Clive Warren, Singing Jewels, Leharia Singers and Donnett Thompson Hall, out of Canada.
On Monday, Clive Warren, Singing Jewels and Leharia Singers gave those in attendance at the media launch of the event held at the Iberostar Hotel in St James, snippets of what to expect, come October.
The members of the audience were particularly thrilled with the performance of Singing Jewels, a group of female students from Corinaldi Primary School in Montego Bay, who received an encore.
Meanwhile, Minister of State in the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce Sharon Ffolkes Abrahams, who was the guest speaker at the launch, pointed out that the event could assist in the promotion of Jamaica as a faith tourism destination.
“I just want to say as Minister of State in the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce this is an event that will bring many persons to Jamaica — I see that vision — as well as a destination for faith tourism. And, I do believe we have everything in Montego Bay just for that,” Ffolkes Abrahams articulated.
“This is a wonderful event and I just want to thank those whom God spoke to for your obedience to the word of God and to His voice because we need to celebrate Jesus in Jamaica.”
According to Donald Brooks, the chairman of the organising committee, the gospel concert is not being staged merely for fun, but for disseminating God’s words, using music as the vehicle.
“We want this concert to not only entertain, but to bring an awakening to the goodness of God as we minister to persons through the power of music,” Brooks stated.
Part proceeds from the concert will go to the Victim Support Group and the New Vision City of Refuge Home in Manchester.
