JTA seeks Prof Errol Miller as mediator in election impasse
MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica — In a last ditch effort to resolve the presidential election issue dogging the Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA) its members today unanimously agreed to invite Professor Errol Miller, professor emeritus of the University of the West Indies to mediate the issue.
The JTA has been barred by the Supreme Court from announcing and installing the winner of its presidential election at its three-day conference which ended today.
The injunction was granted by Justice Lennox Campbell Tuesday evening.
The injunction was sought by principal of Harmons Primary School in Manchester, Georgia Waugh Richards, who was initially declared the winner of the election but later lost on recount to Norman Allen.
