JAMPRO represents region at China summit
FROM September 5-14, JAMPRO will be leading a regional delegation from the Caribbean Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (CAIPA) and local exporters to the eighth annual China-LAC Business Summit in Changsha, Hunan.
The summit, which will facilitate the exchange of ideas among top executives, policy-makers and high public officials, will focus on key areas for the identification of trade and investment business opportunities between regions.
JAMPRO President Diane Edwards will be making a presentation on behalf of CAIPA, launching JAMPRO’s mandarin website as well as the agency’s new interactive web portal Global Business Connect.
Senior consulting officer at JAMPRO Nardia McKenzie as well as representatives from Salada Foods and Wynlee Distributors will be also be attending the summit.
A release from JAMPRO said this year’s summit will focus on key issues to the interest of China-LAC business circles, with a broader prospect of international economic and trade development trend. According to JAMPRO’s president, the summit will provide an opportunity to present investment opportunities in the targeted sectors to Chinese and Latin American enterprises as well as showcase Jamaican products for exports to China.
“We will be hitting the pavement hard in China with a view to follow up on leads generated from two recent inward missions,” said Edwards. “This is an opportunity to really explore the market activity in China and to target high-level CEOs that we want to attend our Jamaica Investment Forum 2015.”
Throughout the summit, JAMPRO will stage a booth that will feature Jamaican exporters Salada and Wynlee, who has received funding from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
The China-LAC Business Summit is organised by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), jointly with the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), the People’s Bank of China, and the Government of the Hunan Province.
