Stocks and Securities changes chairman

STOCKS and Securities Limited (SSL) has appointed Afeef Lazarus as its chairman.

Founder and immediate past chair, Hugh Croskery, will remain as a director along with Gordon Langford and the financial advisory’s CEO Mark Croskery.

The change at the helm was part of a strategic plan which includes the revision and expansion of the firm’s leadership team.

“Our board will be providing strategic oversight for the company, as we make the transition from a family business into the corporate world,” said the firm’s CEO.

He added that focus will continue to be increased in furthering the fiduciary responsibility of SSL’s financial advisors, who are all certified by the Financial Services Commission.

SSL also appointed Paige Todd, John Andrews, and Dr Guyan Arscott to the board.

Lazarus is a former senior partner of the law firm Livingston, Alexander & Levy, where he now serves as a consultant.

Todd is a former banker and Certified Public Accountant and is currently a financial controller for the Tank-Weld Group of Companies. Andrews has significant experience in financial markets while Dr Arscott’s professional success has been recognised with a National Honour for his contribution to the field of Medicine in the area of Reconstructive Surgery.

The firm’s founder, Hugh, will now be more hands-on in the existing and new client relationships in the private wealth management segment of the company, according the SSL’s CEO.

The company’s focus since the sale of its repo portfolio to JN Fund Managers Limited last November, has been private wealth management, financial planning and money management.

SSL registered operating revenue of $124.9 million for the six months ended June 2014, and recently announced that it would spin off its cambio services into a new company called DOLLA Financial Services Limited.
