SINGJAY Chappa Chaps is using his 25-track mixtape, Dem Nuh Bad, as a yardstick to measure what the listening public wants.

Produced by Good Youth Productions, the set was released two weeks ago.

“I put out a variety of songs with various topics to see the public’s response and so far it has been encouraging,” he told the Jamaica Observer.

According to Chappa Chaps, the topics are a wide range of social issues which affect every Jamaican and he is optimistic it will connect with listeners.

His favourite, however, is Problems That Come.

“This song is about problems… It is no respecter of persons… No matter who you are, where you come from or social standing… problems will come,” he said.

Other tracks include Live Me Life, Love You, Simple T-Shirt, and Knock.

Considered a newbie to entertainment circles — the 32-year-old singjay, whose given name is Dwain Brown — recorded his first track in November of last year.

“I have been soaking up all that I’ve been learning as this is a fairly new business for me,” he said.

Chappa Chaps has been making a buck in the grooming industry for the last 12 years. He is determined to make his name in his newest venture.

“I’ll be making an impact in the dancehall in the not too distant future… the world is my crib,” he said.

His other releases include Cha Cha Cha and Tight shorts.
