VIDEO: Only The Very Best

With Digicel Business once more assuming the corporate mantle as headline sponsor, the Jamaica Manufacturers’ Association (JMA) unfolded the 46th iteration of its awards banquet last Thursday in the ballroom of the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel.

As guests dressed to the nines for the swanky evening do, with several opting to heed the invitation’s request to support local design labels, they walked the red carpet to enter the Creative Media and Events-styled event to first, network and sip cocktails from the J Wray & Nephew and Diageo bars at the indoor lounge, ahead of taking their seats for dinner and the eagerly anticipated formal proceedings.

Recognising local players with 26 awards across a spread of categories that included environmental management (Red Stripe), energy and resource efficiency (Boss Furniture), breakthrough product (JWN Dry Dispensable Powder — Micronutrients from Newport Fersan), new manufacturer (Springvale Enterprise) small and medium enterprise (Caribbean Flavours and Fragrances) and the night’s biggie, the Governor General Award for Manufacturer of the Year (Red Stripe), the ceremony was guided by the mismatched pairing of masters of ceremony, Continental Baking Company Chairman Gary ‘Butch’ Hendrickson and television host Emprezz Golding, the latter of whom was at times too bawdy and a tad unprofessional in her delivery. We look forward to the return of Fae Ellington for the 2015 staging.

SO takes you to the JMA’s awards banquet.
