A GROUP of Caribbean promoters, including Walter Elmore of the Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival, have teamed up for a two-day music festival entitled One Caribbean, scheduled for Central Broward Regional Park in Lauderhill, Florida on December 13-14.

The One Caribbean Festival — which has been in the making since early this year — came together in July.

“We wanted to put together the best team possible to pull off this event and decided to pull from relationships we have had throughout the years inside and outside of Jamaica to form this alliance,” said Viviene Chance, associate producer of the festival.

The team, according to Chance, comprises promoters from St Lucia, the Turks and Caicos Islands, and St Kitts as well as Jamaicans residing “inside and outside of Jamaica”.

The associate producer said One Caribbean music festival would no way interrupt the planning of the annual Jazz and Blues festival in Montego Bay in January.

“Our team is wide and vast and are, as we speak, working on both events,” said Chance.

One Caribbean will feature multi-cultural sounds including kompa, salsa, reggae and soca. So far, Puerto Rican Grammy Award-winning jazz flautist Nestor Torres, Haitian band T-Vice and Maxi Priest have confirmed their participation.
