RIP the STRIP next Thursday
RIP the STRIP, curtain-raiser to the OCEAN Style FashionShowcase Weekend, is scheduled for the Old Hospital Park on Montego Bay’s Hip Strip next Thursday.
More than 10 top-notch designers are expected to be show.
They include House of cANYAval from Project Runway’s winner Anya Ayoung-Chee, which will be making its Jamaican debut, as well as drennaLUNA designs. Toya Taylor, Heather Lane, T&T Fashions, Flirt Boutique, Ms Jaye, Franz Christie, Simple 1 Clothing, and Dacian Alexander are also sheduled to showcase their designs. Outfits will be complemented by accessories and bags from home-grown line Iela.
“Last year was the first staging of RIP the STRIP. It was clear from the support that Montego Bay loved the concept and benefited from the event for which we charged a modest entry admission fee. We know that this year’s offering will surpass expectations even more and we have removed the cost to entry so that it’s even more accessible,” said Douglas Gordon, editor-in-chief, OCEAN Style.
The weekend’s itinerary continues with the OCEAN Style Fashion Award Dinner followed by OCEAN Style’s ultra-party Eyes Wide Shut next Friday. On Saturday, October 25, the event opens with the OCEAN Style Golf Invitational at White Witch Golf Course and ends with the piéce-de-resistance: The FashionShowcase at the Iberostar Suites.
This year’s celebrity line-up includes Dauntless star Mekhi Phifer, Nicole Murphy, John Salley and Alan Thicke, Omar Benson Miller and Black-ish lead Anthony Anderson.
