FORMER champions Harbour View FC will seek only their second win of the new season when they battle Sporting Central Academy today in the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) match at the Harbour View Stadium, starting at 3:30 pm.

Harbour View, winners two seasons ago, have lost two of their five matches this campaign. A win and two draws put the Andrew Hines-coached team on five points, to be in a disappointing seventh place in the 12-team standings.

Undermined by a string of postponements mainly due to teams falling victim to suspected cases of the chikungunya virus, the Nigel Stewart-conditioned Sporting Central have only played two games. They won one and lost the other, leaving the Clarendon-based outfit, which has never lifted the national title, in 10th place with three points.

In another expected absorbing encounter commencing at 3:30 in the afternoon, the champions Montego Bay United, who are sixth with seven points from five matches, welcome fourth-placed Rivoli United (eight points) to the WesPow Park in St James.

Also at 3:30 pm, third-placed Reno FC (eight points) entertain unbeaten Waterhouse FC at the Frome Sports Complex in Westmoreland. Waterhouse are fifth with seven points from three outings.

In the afternoon’s late kick-off at 5 0’clock, Humble Lion FC clash with visitors Barbican FC at the Effortville Community Centre in Clarendon. Humble Lion currently occupy the basement slot with one point, while Barbican are one place above with two points.

A double-header will take centre stage at the National Stadium tomorrow.

At 6:30 pm, a clash of the RSPL’s early pacesetters will kick off proceedings. Arnett Gardens FC, who have 11 points from five matches, to be in second place, meet fellow unbeaten outfit Cavalier SC. The Cavalier team leads the league with 14 points from six games.

In another anticipated humdinger, West Kingston-based Tivoli Gardens FC and Trench Town-located Boys’ Town FC lock horns, beginning at 9:15 pm. Tivoli are eighth with five points, while Boys’ Town are ninth with four points.

Both games Monday are scheduled to be televised live.
