Residents of Tivoli Gardens and their new commander head to church
KINGSTON, Jamaica- At the invitation of the new head of the Kingston Western Police Division, Senior Superintendent (SSP) Michael Smith, residents of Tivoli Gardens joined members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) for a church service at the Power of Faith Ministries in Portmore, St Catherine on Sunday, April 12.
The service, which was attended by predominantly male residents, highlights the force’s commitment and that of residents to forge healthy relationships, particularly between the police and young men of Kingston Western communities.
SSP Smith’s initiative builds on the work of his predecessor, SSP Steve McGregor, who enjoyed a good rapport with residents in the division. Through this type of community policing and partnerships with residents, the JCF is creating a winning formulae to tackle crime in the division.
