JMMB CEO is new EHF wellness ambassador
THE Environmental Health Foundation (EHF) has named Jamaica Money Market Brokers’ (JMMB) Group’s Chief Executive Officer Keith Duncan as its 2015 wellness ambassador.
Duncan, a member of the Economic Programme and Oversight Committee (EPOC) and a former president of the Jamaica Securities Dealers’ Association, was recently named to succeed the EHF’s 2014/15 wellness ambassador, Kelly Tomblin, president and CEO of the Jamaica Public Service Company.
Duncan is known for his commitment to youth development, and served as chairman of the National Youth Service from 2003 to 2009.
Making the announcement at a function held recently at Eden Gardens, Kingston, EHF’s CEO Novlet Deans noted that Duncan believes in a healthy social environment, and demonstrates this by promoting a healthy working environment at JMMB.
“He is committed to supporting the legacy of Joan Duncan — his mother and founder of JMMB — and has continued to offer nursery services, free of cost, to team members with children, as well as host quarterly wellness sessions for team members and their families,” she said.
She expressed delight that Duncan is a believer in physical wellness at work, as evidenced through his establishment of a gym at the workplace, and allowing team members to have free access to it at work.
“He is also an advocate for taking care of the mind, body and spirit and, as a result, participates in marathons and daily exercises,” Deans added.
Duncan, in response, said that he believes that people must take time out to keep their bodies in shape and eat right.
“A balanced diet, supplying our bodies with the right nutrition and the appropriate amount of rest, synchronised with a healthy body, gives us the energy and the clarity of thought to take on the world,” Duncan said.
The 23-year-old EHF is a private, independent grant-making organisation, chaired by scientist Dr Henry Lowe. It is dedicated to providing strategic investments and support to groups and individuals, with the aim of improving the health, environment, and educational status of Jamaicans.
Through the support it provides, the foundation fosters innovation particularly in the field of science and technology and the development of knowledge, helps strengthen institutions, and provides information to the general public mostly via its publications, meetings, lectures, as well as through the media.
