Jamaican-born Canada-based reggae act Exco Levi has added another accolade to his growing list. His award-winning track Welcome the King has been included in the soundtrack of the Canadian film Camelion.

According to the artiste he is pleased to have contributed his work to this latest project.

“I am happy to have my music included in the film Camelion. The storyline is something I’m a little familiar with, which is coming to a new country and trying to make it. I can’t wait to see the movie to know if their outcome is like mine.”

Exco Levi has the distinction of making history with Canada’s JUNO Awards for which he has won Best Reggae Recording on four consecutive occasions. His most recent win was earlier this year.

Camelion, is produced by Josh Ary and directed by Reza Dahya. The film chronicles the experiences of a group of undocumented workers who live together in an apartment in Toronto who face experiences of trying to survive. The dynamics of the characters is heightened as one member of the group is from Ireland, while the rest of the members of the group are people of colour.

A screening for Camelion will be held this Tuesday, June 9, as part of the Toronto International Film Festival. Welcome the King is featured during the opening scene.

Welcome the King was produced by Queens, New York-based producer Kheilstone Music and engineered by Exco Levi for High Priest Records. Exco Levi’s album, Country Man is distributed by Pacific Arts & Music / Warner Music Canada. Exco Levi is currently preparing to go on tour starting later this month until September. This will take him across the western United States, Europe and Canada.
