Gardening — June 7
Dear Orchid Doc:
I was given two chemicals: one insecticide and a fungicide because of a problem that I had with my orchids. I say ‘had’ because I sprayed them for eight weeks and they are now fine.
The farm store gave me two sets, but I am not sure why I got two.
Should I continue with them or not?

Dear Orchid lover:
What appears to have happened is that the set that you used for eight weeks seems to be the “specialist,” so to speak, and the other set is the “general practitioner”.
Ok, so now that they are better, please go back to the general ones, as the specialists usually cost more since they treat a particular insect.
Dear Orchid Doc:
Is it true that I can mix a paste with the fungicide and insecticide if the rot is far gone, and then apply it to the sick orchids?
Lindsay
Dear Lindsay:
I am one who does this very often, and it does save the plants many times.
May I suggest that you also wipe the wound first with peroxide.
