One killed, three injured in St Mary road crash
ST MARY, Jamaica – A woman is dead, while three others sustained injuries following a motor vehicle collision along the Rio Nuevo main road in western St Mary early Friday morning, police have confirmed.
The identities of those killed have not been ascertained.
Initial reports are that a taxi which operates on the Port Maria to Ocho Rios route was overtaking a line of vehicles when it collided with a heavy duty truck. The woman died at the scene, while the other three passengers were dispatched for emergency medical treatment.
One of the injured passengers was rushed to the St Ann’s Bay Hospital, while the other was taken to the Port Maria Hospital.
Arrangements were being made for him to be transferred to the Kingston Public Hospital.
One eyewitness at the crash scene told OBSERVER ONLINE that one of the bodies was severed in two.
The incident caused traffic delays along the normally busy route.
