Police recapture prison escapee in Westmoreland
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica – The Negril Police has recaptured one of the nine men who escaped custody at the Savanna-La-Mar Police lock-up on Friday, June 19 during an operation in West End, Westmoreland on Tuesday. Related story: UPDATE: Photos of prison escapees
He is 26-year-old Junior James, otherwise called ‘Bryan’, of Burnt Savannah district, Westmoreland. James was wanted for murder.
Reports are that about 2:00 pm, a team of officers was on operation in the parish when a premises under construction was searched and James along with four other men and a female were found and taken into custody.
As the search for those still at large intensifies, residents of Savanna-la-Mar and surrounding communities are being reminded that these men have been charged with serious gun-related crimes and are considered dangerous. The police should be contacted immediately if they are seen.
Additionally, friends and family members of these wanted men are being warned that they stand to face prosecution if they are found offering them a safe haven, as it is a criminal offence to harbour a fugitive.
Still on the run are:
Twenty-one-year-old Romaine Esson, otherwise called ‘Skenko’, whose last known address is Dalling Street, Westmoreland. He was charged for murder and shooting with intent.
Twenty-three-year-old Odane Brown, otherwise called ‘Fee Fee’, whose last known address is West End, Negril in Westmoreland. He was charged for shooting with intent and robbery with aggravation.
Twenty-six-year-old Alton Maxwell whose last known address is Naggo Head, St Catherine. He was charged for murder, illegal possession of firearm and escaping Police custody.
Twenty-year-old Ricardo Kerr, otherwise called ‘Jawbone’, whose last known address is Waterworks, Westmoreland. He was charged for robbery with aggravation and shooting with intent.
Thirty-three-year-old Steve Vassell, otherwise called ‘Strength’, whose last known address is Shortwood Road, Kingston 8. He was charged with murder.
Eighteen-year-old Bushay Grayson, otherwise called ‘Coolie Man’, whose last known address is Little London, Westmoreland. He was charged for robbery.
Twenty-seven-year-old Carlington Godfrey, otherwise called ‘Tommy’, whose last known address is Top Lincoln, Grange Hill, Westmoreland. He was charged with murder, shooting with intent and illegal possession of firearm.
