Dirtworx Records is back
A few years ago, Dirtworx Records created a buzz with a flurry of songs from top reggae and dancehall acts, as well as hip hop artistes out of New York.
After a brief hiatus the label is back.
“Elements of our structure weren’t functioning like it should, so we had to break to reorganise. Our love for music never stopped, so we are really excited to get back into the game to continue our mission,” said Earl Moodie Jr, a senior manager at Dirtworx Records.
Moodie started the company with Alton Brown in 2002. They released songs by Richie Spice, Sizzla, Yami Bolo, Luciano, Delly Ranx, and Nicki D.
While they focused mainly on reggae and dancehall, Moodie and Brown also worked with hip hop acts such as Dipset, Reed Dollars Noe Money and Hell Rell.
Dirtworx Records’ new project is the Knock Weh ‘riddim’ featuring songs such as Mad Dawg by Vybz Kartel, Replay by Meddz, and Hot Gal Luxury by Ffrench.
“We will be introducing a new artiste in the form of Ffrench who was a finalist in the Magnum King and Queen of Dancehall competition. We’re also doing a project with Mr Bertus, and we are also working on a mix album with some of the biggest names in music from Jamaica,” Moodie said.
