Jah Mike appeals to parents
Even though he recorded it to coincide with Parent Month in November, singer Jah Mike is still pushing his song, A Baby Needs a Mother And a Father.
It is an appeal to parents to be more responsible in raising their children.
A frustrated Jah Mike said the self-produced song got little love from radio stations.
“A lot of radio stations have the song and they are not playing it, so I would like all Jamaicans to help promote it because it’s all about family values.”

A Baby Needs a Mother And a Father is co-written by Jah Mike and his wife, Edna Rosa. Its music was composed by veteran pianist Dennis ‘Jah D’ Fearon.
Jah Mike (real name Lawrence Lugg) has been recording for over 30 years. He said he and Rosa were inspired to write the song given the alarming level of child neglect in Jamaica.
“This song is to show that the parents must have respect for the kids and the kids must show respect to the parents. Both parents have to set an example,” he said.
