Jamalco reaches out to parents in Campbell Castle
MAY PEN, Clarendon — Forty-nine parents of students attending the Campbell’s Castle Primary and Infant School in South Manchester recently benefited from a parenting forum and health fair organised by Clarendon-based bauxite-alumina company Jamalco to commemorate Parent Month.
A release from Jamalco said Monica Baker, the company’s Employee Assistance Programme Counsellor, used the opportunity to inform the parents about the importance of protecting the nation’s children.
“We need to plan for our children. If we fail to plan, they are going to be a liability more than an asset in the future,” Baker said.
The parents benefited from weight, cholesterol and blood sugar checks that were offered by the Medical Department, and were also treated to lunch.
The outreach activity is one of several initiatives held in neighbouring schools and communities within Jamalco’s operating areas.
