Woman accused of kidnapping baby granted bail
KINGSTON, Jamaica – A woman has been slapped with a charge of child stealing after it was reported that she made off with her niece’s daughter during a visit to the complainant’s home.
Ritonilla Loney, of a Windsor Road address in St Catherine, pleaded not guilty to the charge and was offered J$75,000 bail when she appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
The court heard that Loney snatched the child after her niece fell asleep.
The court was told that the police were summoned after several calls to Loney’s cellular phone went unanswered.
The baby was later found at Loney’s boyfriend house.
Loney is to return to court on April 1.
