ST MARY, Jamaica — Members of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) say they are not troubled by a recent poll which has indicated that the People’s National Party (PNP) is ahead of their party.

Addressing the large crowd of green-clad supporters in Gayle, St Mary Tuesday night, Portland West Member of Parliament, Daryl Vaz, urged supporters not to panic, but to let their votes speak on Election Day.

“The only true poll is the people’s poll,” Vaz stated.

He was joined by Mike Henry, MP for Clarendon Central, who said he does not listen to polls.

“I don’t pay attention to poll.  The Jamaica Labour Party has the best set of candidates,” Henry said.  

He went on to add that the PNP crowd in Half Way Tree was not scaring him or the JLP. He then went on to speak about the condition of St Mary under the PNP.

Henry pointed out that although MP for St Mary Central, Dr Morais Guy, is a part of the Ministry of Transport and Works, the roads in St Mary were in a terrible condition.

Candidate for St Mary Western Robert Montague said if the JLP wins the February 25 election, the roads in the parish will be fixed.  According to Montague, when he was Member of Parliament some 28 roads were fixed.

“When we say we ago fix road it mean we ago fix road,” he told the large gathering of party supporters.

He added that under the JLP water and housing will be developed in the parish.
