GRANVILLE, St James — Having secured their semi-final place with several games to go, mid-season champions Granville FC could wrap up the top spot in the points table of the Jamaica Football Federation Charley’s JB Rum Western Confederation Super League when they take on second-placed Wadadah FC in a St James derby at the Granville Community Centre today when the competition continues with a full slate of rescheduled games.

On Saturday Granville FC beat another St James team Reggae Youths 2-1 and tied up their semi-final spot, after moving to 31 points, and another three points today would see them locking up the number one spot overall.

Also today, third-placed Clark’s Town are away to relegation-threatened Lucea FC, fourth-placed Montego Bay Boys’ Club are hosting Reggae Youths at the UDC field, Petersfield FC are home to Beaches Negril and Village United will host Salt Marsh United at Elleston Wakeland Centre.

Granville FC are enjoying one of their best seasons in years and have lost just once in 13 games played including the mid-season final where they beat Clark’s Town and have conceded just three goals in the process.

Today, however, they could get their biggest test in the form of Wadadah FC, who are coming off a big 5-2 victory over Boys’ Club on Saturday and are in the hunt for a semi-final place as well.

Granville were without the influential Oneil Pringle on Saturday when they edged Reggae Youths and he is expected to return to the line-up today.

Wadadah FC will look to Kemiro James and Robert Lewis who have combined for 14 of their 25 goals scored, Ronaldo McLeish and Damion Reid.

Despite playing away from home, Clark’s Town are expected to have the measure of Lucea FC and depending on the results at Granville, could move into second place.

Clark’s Town are on a two-game winning run and should beat 11th-placed Lucea FC, who are trying to avoid returning to the Hanover parish league for the second time in three seasons.

After their crushing loss to Wadadah FC on Saturday, Boys Club must rebound today if they are to avoid falling out of the top four with games running out.

They will face an equally desperate Reggae Youths who have slipped into the relegation zone, three points from safety and must start picking up points now if they are to survive.

Petersfield FC have cooled off somewhat after a torrid start and have slipped to sixth position, but just two points off the semi-final position, and a win against a floundering Beaches Negril would be the tonic they need to revive their semi-final quest.
