Shift of power as Parliament reconvenes
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Final preparations are currently being made for the reconvening of Parliament at Gordon House following the dramatic win by the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) in the February 25 General Election.
JLP leader and newly installed Prime Minister Andrew Holness will lead his 32-man team to Gordon House from the offices of the Bustamante Industrial Trade Union on Duke Street, while Opposition Leader Portia Simpson Miller is expected to lead her 31-man team to the Parliament building from the southern or downtown end.
Police are currently gathered outside Gordon House where they are being briefed before the ceremony begins.
