Noted American track and field athletics publication Track and Field News has predicted just three medals for Jamaica at this weekend’s IAAF World Indoor Championships that gets underway tomorrow at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Oregon.

The online version of the publication that calls itself ‘The Bible of the sport since 1948’, has “as of March 15, 2016”, predicted silver medals for Asafa Powell in the men’s 60m and the women’s 4x400m relay team and a bronze for Omar McLeod in the men’s 60m hurdles.

Jamaica has a 25-member team to the four-day championships that is being held on American soil for only the second time.

Jamaica won five medals two years ago when the championships was held in Sopot, Poland, including a gold in the women’s 60m by Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.

Meanwhile, Track and Field News has predicted a Caribbean clean sweep in the men’s 400m with Grenada’s Bralon Taplin beating two Trinidadians — Lalonde Gordon and Deon Lendore to the line for the region’s only gold medal.

Trinidad’s female shot putter Cleopatra Borel is expected to take bronze in her event, according to the publication.
