Westmoreland’s ‘Super Mario’ wins $50,000 in Digicel Shopping Spree
SAVANNA-LA-MAR, Westmoreland
With his birthday and wedding celebrations fast approaching, Mario ‘Super Mario’ Williams of a Westmoreland address recently got the cash break he needed after winning the second weekly supermarket dash in the Digicel Grand Prix Shopping Spree promotion.
After selecting Javon Francis’ 400m personal best time of 44.50 seconds, Williams dashed though the HiLo supermarket in Portmore Pines, St Catherine ,like a man on a mission, quickly filling two trolleys with goods valued at close to $100,000. With this, he managed to beat his opponent, Cecil Lawrence, to the top prize of $50,000 in supermarket vouchers.
Lawrence, in the meantime, took home the second-place prize of $20,000 in supermarket vouchers.
“Boy, I feel really good to win this $50,000 from Digicel!” exclaimed Williams. “My fiancée and I are getting married on my birthday very soon, so this money is going to help buy up some things for the celebration.”
“All along, I’ve never won anything from Digicel, and to win this now, it just seems like everything good is happening at the right time.”
Director of Distribution and Retail Channels at Digicel, Michelle Anderson, said, “We’re very happy for the opportunity to engage our customers in fun activities like these where they can win something meaningful for themselves and their families. The Grand Prix Shopping Spree is just one of many ways our customers get to win with Digicel.”
The Digicel Grand Prix Shopping Spree promotion sees two customers in a face-off each week at HiLo stores across the island. Each customer will randomly select one of the personal best times of Digicel’s track and field brand ambassadors, Usain Bolt, Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce, Javon Francis and Michael O’Hara, and use that time to grab as many items as possible.
To qualify, customers simply have to top up with $200 or more, talk for 10 minutes or more on their postpaid phones, pay their broadband bill on time and in full or activate a two-day data plan or higher. The higher the top-up or data plan, the more entries customers will receive in the promotion. The competition is open to all pre-paid, postpaid and 4G broadband customers.
