10 per cent increase in egg prices coming
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Jamaica Egg Farmers Association on Thursday advised wholesalers and consumers that the price of table eggs is likely to increase by 10 per cent.
In an advertisement in the press, the association said the price increase on table eggs is “imminent”.
According to the ad, famers have held egg prices stable for the last 18 months.
“However, the devaluation of the Jamaican dollar compounded by our national inflation over the (18-month) period has dictated the need for an urgent upward movement by a likely 10 per cent on their prices for table eggs,” the association said.
