A woman accused of stealing a Samsung Galaxy S5 cellular phone claimed that the complainant made up the allegation because she had refused to go home with him after he brought her a cellular phone.

Keadejah Campbell was recently arrested and charged with larceny by trick, following allegations that she stole the complainant’s phone after he gave her the phone to charge while she was at her workplace in Kingston.

However, on Tuesday when Campbell appeared in court, she denied the allegations.

“I did not steal the phone,” she told Judge Pusey.

According to her, she was at work when the complainant visited her and told her that he had a phone for her and showed her a Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

Campbell said the complainant then gave her his phone and ended up leaving the phone at her workplace.

“In the evening he called me and said he wants me to go home with him and I said no,” she further relayed.

Campbell said the accused did not return for his phone and she took it home with her. However, she said he returned to her office and came there ‘beating down’ the premises. She then called the police and subsequently handed over the phone.

The prosecutor, however, told the court that based on the allegations, the complainant had made several calls to Campbell’s phone and attempted to get back his phone, but was unsuccessful.

The judge subsequently decided that she wanted to see the complainant, as he was absent.

“There is something called unrequited love,” she said before extending Campbell’s bail until May 4.
