Legal Arena under Shane Ellis easily won the first race over 1,300 metres by 10 lengths. Ellis said: “This was easy as one, two, three. There was nothing really outstanding in the race to challenge us, so it was like a stroll.Legal Arena ran a great race and the time of 1:22:4 was also good.”

The Carl Anderson-owned and trained Star New Vista, ridden by Andre Powell, won the second race over 1,500 metres. Powell said: “Coming around the half-mile turn, I knew we had a shot at winning because the two horses up front were running themselves in the ground and we just stormed past them up the lane to win quite easily.”

Linton Steadman, who rode Princess Statistic to victory in the fifth race over 1,200 metres, said: “This race as you saw was an easy race. The plan was to put her in front and call it a day. That was exactly what happened.”

In a bold front-running effort, Medical Instinct, under Javaniel Patterson, won the seventh race over 1,000 metres straight. After the race Patterson said: “She has speed and we used that to great effect today (Saturday). It is only 1,000 metres and once we were clear coming into the last furlong, it was smooth sailing for us.”

Mandeya, ridden by Aaron Chatrie, won the ninth and final event over 1,000 metres. After the race Chatrie said: “He is coming back to form at the right time. Based on his last run, it would have been difficult for them to beat him.”
