Approximately $200,000 in prizes will be up for grabs at the seventh annual Ardenne Classics Track Meet, which is scheduled to take place at the UWI/Usain Bolt Track, UWI, Mona, this Saturday between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.

Defending champions Mona Prep will be pulling out all the stops to stave off challenges from more than 20 other schools, including host Ardenne Prep, who placed 12th out of 57 schools which competed at the Jamaica Independent Schools Association (JISA) Prep Champs in 2015.

Stella Maris Prep, Our Lady of the Angels Prep, St Richard’s Primary, New Providence Primary, to name a few, are some of the main challengers. Previous winners of the meet include Vaz Prep and St Aloysius Primary.

Launched in May 2010, the Ardenne Classics is a developmental meet for primary and preparatory school athletes aimed at preparing them for major track meets.

The meet has attracted sponsorship from major entities including Kirk Distributors Limited, GK General Insurance, Massy Distributors, NCB Insurance Company Limited, Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica, Alcor Windows and Doors and Victoria Mutual Building Society.
