Mystic Revealers, the roots-reggae band which emerged from the seaside town of Bull Bay in the late 1970s, launched their latest song and a mini documentary there Wednesday.

The song,Herb Must Legalize 4.20 and music video debuted at Jamnesia, home of Anthony ‘Billy Mystic’ Wilmot, the band’s lead singer, guitarist and main songwriter.

Eight Miles From Kingston, a 30-minute film looking at Mystic Revealers’ 38-year history, was also launched.

Wilmot and bassist Leroy ‘Lion’ Edwards are the original members still in the band. Drummer Nicky Henry has been part of the lineup since the mid-1980s.

The former told Splash that it was fitting that the launch took place at Jamnesia. The surfer’s hangout is where many of the artistes in the much-touted roots-reggae revival got their start on bi-monthly live shows.

“Wi talking ’bout Jah9, Chronixx, Protoje, Jesse (Royal). All a dem used to come here an’ dat’s why dem thing so strong,” Wilmot explained. “’Cause dem use to share ideas an’ sing harmony on each other song.”

The aforementioned artistes are on the self-produced

Herb Must Legalize 420 which announces Wilmot’s establishment of a company to produce ganja-based products.

It also features veteran singers Fred Locks and Suzanne Couch.

Mystic Revealers first came to mainstream attention in 1985 with the ballad,

Saw You Smiling. Their 1993 album,Jah Works, was a strong collection that had songs likeReligion, That’s Life andRemember Romeo.
