Sisters perish in St Ann house fire
ST ANN, Jamaica – The Brown’s Town police are investigating the deaths of two sisters, whose bodies were found on Sunday after a fire destroyed their house in Cross Roads, Lawrence Park district, St Ann.
They have been identified as 59-year-old Janet James, otherwise called Francis, and 57-year-old Paulette James, otherwise called ‘Lou’. The police say the origin of the fire has not yet been determined.
Reports are that about 4:50 am, residents alerted the police to a three-bedroom dwelling that was seen ablaze.
Member of the Jamaica Fire Brigade were called in and the police say they carried out cooling down operations, after which the sisters’ remains were found.
The police say estimated loss has not yet been ascertained and it is not known if the house was insured.
