Trial of cop charged with murdering pregnant woman postponed
KINGSTON, Jamaica (CMC) – A trial of a police officer who shot and killed a 25-year-old pregnant woman in 2012, has been postponed to October 17.
Corporal Dwayne Smart appeared in the Home Circuit Court on Monday charged with murdering Kay-Ann Lamont who was shot twice after she had been accosted for using indecent language in Yallahs, St Thomas. Another woman was injured during the incident.
Angry residents had used debris to block the road in the vicinity of the Yallahs Police Station, following the shooting on September 1, 2012.
