Added significance for St Leger, promises much
ISP Finance Services Limited (ISP) is once again holding the sponsorship reins for the Jamaica St Leger, it was announced at a press conference held at Caymanas Park on Tuesday last.
The third jewel in the native-bred three-year-old Triple Crown series (Guineas, Derby), the St Leger carries a purse of $3.5 million (inclusive of $750,000 from the sponsor). The St Leger is contested over 2,000 metres (10 furlongs) and is set for Saturday, July 16. This will be the 90th running of the St Leger.
The remaining races on the day will have $50,000 added to each purse, with ISP increasing their sponsorship for this year to $1.2 million.
Dennis Smith, chief executive officer (CEO) at ISP, gave his company’s commitment to sponsoring the St Leger and the entire race day.
“The horse racing industry in Jamaica is a very strong brand providing financial support to a large number of our population. It is the Sport of Kings and we at ISP are proud to be associated with such a brand.
“We also recognise the importance of giving back, and while we seek to maximise the return on our advertising dollar, we are serious about our corporate responsibilities and will always seek to find ways to assist those in our society less fortunate than ourselves,” he said.
Managing director at Caymanas Park Limited (CTL), Shane Dalling, welcomed the sponsorship from ISP Finance Services Limited and encouraged everyone to come out to participate in an exciting day of racing.
“On behalf of CTL, I will say a big thank you to ISP Financial Services Limited for their generous sponsorship, and for coming on board once again,” Dalling said.
