Spotlight – David Tulloch
Today, the Jamaica Observer’s Entertainment’s Desk concludes its daily feature on people who made an impact during that year.

DESPITE a dearth in adequate theatre space, practitioner David Tulloch stood head and shoulders above his peers in the production area. He penned more than 10 plays and took one on an overseas run to the United States.
“Taking the drama For My Daughter overseas on tour to Florida [was among the highlights for 2016]. I have also been asked to create a book from the script as a few universities want to study the subject matter,” Tulloch told Jamaica Observer.
For My Daughter (2014) is based on the struggles and sacrifices of single motherhood, the cost of deceit, the price of dignity, and budding love.
His 2016 plays include the thought-provoking 3Some, Bad Breed, Across The Bridge, and Not My Child. The latter stars veteran actress, Leonie Forbes.
Last November, Tulloch assumed the reins of the Phoenix Theatre on Haining Road in New Kingston, which formerly operated as The Theatre Place, and launched a production company.
“The formation of JamStage was also a big thing for me. When you put that together with all the work that was done, it was a very high year for me,” he said.
