Struggling Boys’ Town clip Harbour View
In their struggle to escape relegation from the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL), Boys’ Town FC scored a huge 3-2 win over 10-man Harbour View FC at Harbour View Stadium on Monday night.
Points and pride were at stake in what was a crucial game for both teams, but it was Boys’ Town who came out with a well-deserved victory. They, however, remain at the foot of the table on 19 points, while Harbour View, who were losing for the first time in three outings, are eighth on 27 points.
Harbour View’s Nicholas Beckett was called for committing a foul inside the penalty area and referee Cardella Samuels pointed to the spot after only 15 minutes of play. Beckett was sent for an early shower.
Shamar Nicholson then stepped forward to poke the penalty kick past goalkeeper Christian Kluvi to put Boy’s Town ahead. Harbour View are never one to lie down in a fight for survival, and two minutes later McKauly Tulloch levelled the score.
Boys’ Town continued to probe their host’s defence, and in the 21st minute, Jamiel Hardware slotted one home, putting his team 2-1 up entering the break.
Fired up by the prospect of losing the game, Harbour View returned primed for combat and redoubled their efforts and, in the 60th minute, their all-out industry paid off when Fabian Grant lashed home a savage shot past Kirk Porter in the Boys’ Town goal.
From then on the play was wild and woolly, with 10-man Harbour View having Boys’ Town off their legs on the rain-drenched surface, going close enough on several occasions to take the lead. But that was not to be; it was Boys’ Town’s night.
Jahvon Howell latched on a through pass from deep in the Harbour View half and progressed goalward to upend the usually safe Kluvi with a low shot in the goal.
