Spanish/Jamaican Foundation awards scholarships to 20 student teachers
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Spanish/Jamaican Foundation (SJF) recently awarded 20 pre-service teachers from the Shortwood, Church and Sam Sharpe teachers’ colleges with cheques for the payment of tuition at their respective schools.
The awardees are all student teachers who are reading for diplomas and degrees in the teaching of Spanish. They received their awards at a ceremony at the Shortwood Teachers’ College, which also featured Spanish performances from students at the three colleges.
In a release, SJF said they began awarding scholarships in 2012 in recognition of Jamaica’s 50th anniversary.
